Andrea Ruiz








From Southwest Cone of the American Continent is found the largest country with respect to territorial extension, this is Chile, a country that is bordering the Pacific Ocean in the west, north to Peru, in the east with Argentina and Bolivia and to the south with Drake Passage or Mar de Hoces (Sea of Sickles) as it is known in Latin American lands. Chile is home of several native tribes such as the Aymara, Atacameños, Diaguitas, Mapuches, Chonos, Yamane, Alacalufes, Ona and Rapanui (the last ethnic group living on Easter Island); as well as also has the honor of having the Andes Mountain Range as one of natural beauties of this country who in turn passes through Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and parts of Venezuela. In regard to women's bodybuilding, Chile has gotten a considerable reputation that has allowed to rely on with athletes who have participated in South American championships and later in world competitions. This country has one of the most promising female bodybuilders that Andean sport has ever seen. Her name is Andrea Ruiz and you will know in depth about this mighty muscle warrior.

Profession: Personal Trainer.








Years of training: 19 years in bodybuilding and 31 years in Martial Arts. Training since 1992 to 2004 Kick Boxing, and since 2004 to now bodybuilding, combining both disciplines. 









Please give us a little introduction of yourself:My name is Andrea Ruiz Sanchez. My mom comes from Spain, and the part to my dad from Italy. I live in Miami, Florida, United States. I born in Santiago, Chile. Later finished school I studied technology in foods, but was not good idea and later I went to a institute, I studied and I graduated in personal fitness training.








Story: I started to lift weights when I trained Kick Boxing, but I realized I liked bodybuilding and I had to choose between two paths, and I chose weights, is a sport that I love very much and I give myself completely, it fills my life. Although many times I feel discrimination and people's teasing, but is part of it. I'm living in USA since last year. I came here on June 11th of 2010, I was training inside Gold Gym at Washington, DC. Later, I came to New York at July 4th, where I trained in Crunch Gym at Brooklyn (Fulton Avenue). In Miami, I've been training in Idols and US1 Gyms, and now I'm thinking to change to another Gym at Downtown Miami. I was training Muay Thai in New York, my level at martial arts is 3 Dan, here in USA. In Chile I've got 3 black belts, 1 in Full Contact and 2 in Kick Boxing, federated by American Training Karate, the 3 belts are 1st Dan. I did Swimming in all 4 styles for 2 years. I did Boxing for 2 years, Classic Kung Fu for 1 years and Modern Kung Fu in Nei Chia Style for 9 months. I do worship in Miami, along with therapeutic massages. Also I teach Kick Boxing and weights' classes in a Gym inside a building. I make videos on demand.

Favorite Quote: There are 2 important phrases in my life. The first one is there's no a better warrior than he who conquers to himself. The second one is never say, I can't do it, I will try to do. In the last one, my master in kick boxing taught to me this idea, I never forgot some thoughts he taught to me.

Hobbies: Listening music, see movies, go to the beach, sleep, take a walk and visit to my friends.

Many times the face that people put when you change the weights that they do. 








What do you enjoy about training for your competitions? 








The one thing I can mention is that each training I enjoy it to the maximum and this motivates me to overcome my limits.








Curiosities about yourself: I'm a fairly lonely person I learned to love it.









What thing has left in your life sport practice?








For better good habits of healthy eating.

What's the difference between Offseason and On Season in your own words?








Offseaon is volume category, I mean off for contest season and on season is when one is defined and dry. 








Which is the greatest satisfaction in your sport career?







Getting the 1st place in my most recent competitions is something that has made me to appreciate the results of my training, now I have to overcome what was done in the past.









The woman in the present time has shown her capacity to take challenges in all areas of society and sport is not the exception. What do you think about women's sport in the future?









I don't know yet because this sport is changing by big steps everyday.
