IFBB Toronto Pro Super Show 2013

Hi again Female Muscle Fans. Shortly, the city of Toronto, located in the Canadian province of Ontario will be experiencing a great emotion for all Iron Goddesses' admirers because the successful show in 2012 is back for more doses of high octane adrenaline with all the best athletes from around the world. All Canadian fans will can enjoy a big sport spectacle with many flashes from the best athletic women in this planet.







The competition will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and these are the details.

Death Comes Around

Hi again Female Muscle Fans. Unfortunately, we have to announce 2 shocking demises in this sport. The first is about a powerful bodybuilder from the Unites States, her name was Denise Gerard, the second is Joe Weider, the founder of IFBB, the biggest institution with respect to the Bodybuilding Competitions. All of this happened on the week of March 18th to 24th. Coming up next, we going to make a semblance for each one of them in order to understand their importance to this discipline.

Denise Gerard

Also known as Denise Currier, she was born on Providence, Rhode Island, USA at October 20th of 1964. Her parents were Henry Currier and Patricia Souza. Denise was a graduate of East Providence High School and received a fine arts degree from Rhode Island College. She was a national title holder with the IFBB and worked as a program director at Queens Lake Middle School Boys and Girls after school club and summer program. Her greatest inspiration were the comic book characters and she always was imagining herself with big muscles. Since 1989 she began her journey in this sport and she knew how to combine it with her job as Personal Trainer and she had the chance to write some publications inside Bodybuilding Magazines. Denise inexplicably died at the age of 48 at March 19th of 2013 and her legacy will live forever in this discipline.

Joe Weider

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on November 29th of 1919 under the name of Josef Edwin Weider, he was one of the pioneers in this sport. At the age of 17, he entered to his first powerlifting contest and soon his reputation grew all over Canadian territory. It was his start step after he lifted up an improvised weights. When he was 20 he began his first magazine titled Your Physique, it was the beginning of several successful companies like Weider Barbell Co. On the next decades, Weider was related especially with Bodybuilding World and he helped to create the IFBB in 1946 along with his brother Ben, and later in 1965 is organized the 1st edition of Mr. Olympia and with the success of this competition it was possible the realization of the upcoming tournaments like Ms. Olympia in 1980, Fitness Olympia in 1995 and Figure Olympia in 2003. He also builded his own magazine publishing empire with titles like Shape, Men's Fitness, Flex, Natural Health and Muscle and Fitness. He generated a great influence over Arnold Schwarzenegger, who always considerated him as a big friend and  a father figure in hints' time. Weider died of heart failure on March 23 of 2013 at the age of 93 inside Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

As you can see, both deaths were so appalling and they have left a sensitive absence in this sport, for this reason we won't make our customary farewell in this time. Rest in peace Denise Gerard and Joe Weider.
